Dharmanagar Cricket Team Receives Grand Welcome After Winning Plate Group Title

Dharmanagar, September2,2026: The Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Cricket Team received a grand welcome at Dharmanagar Railway Station on Tuesday after winning the state-level Senior Plate Group Cricket Tournament and securing promotion to the Elite Group, the highest level of Tripura cricket. Dharmanagar defeated Kamalpur by a massive 131 runs under the VJD method in Sunday’s final to clinch the championship. The team had played five matches in the tournament, which began on August 19, and won four. The achievement marks the team’s return to major state-level success after a gap of 12 years. Dharmanagar Cricket Association President Dilip Dhar, Secretary Shekhar Sinha and other officials welcomed the victorious players with flower bouquets and felicitations. Speaking on the occasion, Dhar said the triumph was a matter of collective pride and joy for the entire Dharmanagar subdivision and its sports clubs.
