Subject: Growing problem of drug addiction in Tripura

Madam,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw attention to the serious problem of drug addiction in Tripura. Drug abuse is becoming a major social concern, particularly among young people. Many families are suffering because of addiction, while students and young adults are losing their health, education, careers and hope for the future.

The easy availability of illegal drugs, peer pressure, lack of awareness and unemployment are some of the factors contributing to this problem. Drug addiction also increases crime, financial hardship and other social problems. If immediate action is not taken, it may seriously affect the future of our younger generation.

I, therefore, request the Government of Tripura to take stronger measures to prevent the trafficking and sale of drugs and to improve monitoring at vulnerable points. The government should also establish more rehabilitation and counselling centres, conduct awareness programmes in schools and colleges, and provide support for families affected by addiction. At the same time, strict action should be taken against drug dealers and traffickers.

I hope the concerned authorities will treat this issue as a matter of urgency and take effective steps to make Tripura free from drug addiction.

Yours faithfully,

Smt. Asmita Debnath,
