Tragic Drowning Claims Class IX Student’s Life

Udaipur, September 7,2026: A tragic drowning incident at Jagannath Dighi in Udaipur claimed the life of a 16-year-old Class IX student, Debjit Dey, a resident of Bari Path. On Sunday afternoon, Debjit reportedly went to the dighi with several friends to bathe. While bathing, he ventured into deeper water and suddenly drowned. His friends raised an alarm, following which local residents and emergency personnel rushed to the spot. The Udaipur Sub-Divisional Administration, Disaster Management Team, NDRF and local rescuers launched a search operation. After nearly an hour, Debjit’s body was recovered and taken to Gomati District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Radhakishorepur Police Station has started an investigation. The incident has left his family and the local community in deep grief.
