Tripura Expands Honey Production Through Women’s SHGs

Agartala,27th August,2026: Tripura is stepping up efforts to promote honey production and strengthen rural women’s livelihoods through self-help groups (SHGs). Recently, new bee boxes were distributed among members of the Madhumati Producer Group in Pecharthal under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission. The initiative aims to encourage beekeeping, increase honey production and strengthen the local “Tripura Nectar” brand. Officials expect the programme to create additional income opportunities for women while promoting sustainable rural entrepreneurship. The distribution of bee boxes is also expected to help SHG members develop skills in beekeeping and contribute to the growth of Tripura’s rural economy.
