TTAADC Village Committee Polls on Sept 28

Agartala,September1,2026: The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Village Committee election is scheduled to be held on 28 September 2026, after a long gap since the previous elections. The election will cover 587 Village Committees, comprising 2,634 constituencies and 4,597 seats. A total of 9,61,977 voters are eligible to cast their votes, including 4,82,041 male, 4,79,930 female and 6 third-gender voters. The State Election Commission has established 1,550 polling stations across the election areas.

The election notification will be issued on 1 September 2026, and candidates can file nominations from 1 to 8 September. Scrutiny will take place on 9 September, while candidates can withdraw their nominations up to 11 September. Polling will be conducted on 28 September from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If required, re-polling will be held on 3 October. Counting of votes will begin on 5 October, and the entire election process is scheduled to conclude by 8 October 2026. 

The election is significant for restoring grassroots democracy, as the tenure of the previous Village Committees ended on 8 March 2021. Voting will be conducted through ballot papers.
